Gay & Lesbian Rights Lobby Print Standards
The following is to be used as a guide for the production of literature, advertising, merchandising, web sites, email and other visual media, where such media will be available to GLRL members, volunteers (non-committee), other organisations and the general public. The purpose is to allow all media produced by the Lobby to be quickly and easily identified as belonging to the Lobby and to ensure aesthetic uniformity throughout.
LOGO
Standard Logo
The standard
logo should be the first choice for a Lobby logo where possible. The GLRL
standard logo is shown above and consists of the words "Gay & Lesbian
Rights Lobby" in black lettering and the "=" motif in pink above
the lettering. Some acceptable variations of the logo are shown on the GLRL
Logo page.
"Acceptable Mono
Variation" would usually apply where the lobby's logo is being
reproduced (usually in printed media) by an organization other the Lobby and the
ink colours available do not allow the logo to be reproduced in the proper
colour scheme or black and white. In this case there should be enough contrast
between the ink and paper colours for the logo to be seen clearly.
Horizontal Logo
The horizontal logo is normally for use in
letterhead, banners and other situations where the standard logo's shape is not
optimal. The GLRL standard logo consists of the words "Gay & Lesbian
Rights Lobby" in black lettering and the "=" motif in pink to the
left of the lettering. Some acceptable variations of the logo are shown on
the GLRL Logo page.
"Acceptable Mono Variation" would usually apply
where the lobby's logo is being reproduced (usually in printed media) by an
organization other the Lobby and the ink colours available do not allow the logo
to be reproduced in the proper colour scheme or black and white. In this case
there should be enough contrast between the ink and paper colours for the logo
to be seen clearly.
Other
Where appropriate it is also acceptable to use the "=" motif separately (especially for
the purposes of merchandising) and for the horizontal banner to appear with the
full title "Gay & Lesbian Rights Lobby (NSW) Inc."
but the
standard logo should never include this additional text.
FONTS
The official fonts of the Lobby
are:
Franklin Gothic Heavy (download)*
for the Lobby logo, headings, titles and any
text needing special emphasis where appropriate. Franklin Gothic Heavy
Italic (download)* may also be used where appropriate. Franklin Gothic Heavy Bold can
become difficult to read and should be avoided.
Franklin Gothic Book (download)*, Franklin Gothic Book Italic (download)*, Franklin Gothic Book Bold and Franklin Gothic Book Bold Italic should be used for the body of text, sub headings and where otherwise appropriate.
*Installing Fonts (Windows
only)
If you need to install any of the above fonts to your computer, first save
them to your desktop or other area you can locate easily. To do this
click on the download link for the particular font you require and
checking box "Save file to disk" then click OK and then in the
Save As window select the location you wish to save the file to and then click
Save. When the download is complete you can copy and paste or drag and drop
the font files into the windows font folder which is located by double
clicking My Computer then Control Panel then Fonts.
Electronic Media
In the case of email, internet, Word documents etc. where the information is
being relayed via electronic rather than actual printed media, the font that
appears on the end viewer's computer is dependant on which fonts are installed
on that computer. In this case it is better to use a similar font such as Arial
which is more widely available on many computers. The Lobby logo should be
supplied as a graphic (.gif) in this situation so it's appearance always remains
consistent.
COLOUR
Where possible Lobby material should consist only of black, white and pink. Technical details for these colours are supplied on the colour page. Attention should be paid to reproducing these colours as specified.
