Community Feedback - NSW Charter of Victim's Rights The NSW Gay and Lesbian Rights Lobby in partnership with ACON, is conducting a survey as part of our community consultation process, to assist in the preparation of a joint submission for the current review into the NSW Charter of Victim's Rights. Make your voice heard and complete the survey today. About the Charter The Charter of Victim's Rights aims to promote and protect the rights of victims of crime, and sets out how government agencies should treat and assist victims. The Charter requires that victims are: treated with dignity, compassion, cultural sensitivity and respect, given access to welfare, health, counselling and legal assistance, informed of relevant police investigations and court proceedings, protected from the person accused of causing them harm, and entitled to claim compensation if they are a victim of a crime. Who we need to hear from The NSW Gay and Lesbian Rights Lobby and ACON need to hear from members of our community who have been victims of crime, and who would be willing to provide some insight into their experiences. We would also like to hear from the family and friends of victims of crime, and the wider community in general. Survey We specifically need to know the following: What is the best way to uphold/enforce the Charter of Victim's Rights? Does the Charter adequately reflect the needs of victims in NSW? The Charter of Victim's Rights aims to promote and protect the rights of victims of crime, and sets out how government agencies should treat and assist victims.
