Since 1988, the Gay & Lesbian Rights Lobby has been leading the fight for equality and social justice for lesbians and gay men in New South Wales. Our major achievements have included:

  • Introduction of Gay and Lesbian Liaison Officers in NSW police stations (1990)
  • Establishment of the Lesbian and Gay Anti-Violence Project (1991)
  • Homosexual anti-vilification legislation in NSW (1993)
  • Rights for same-sex de facto couples in NSW, such as inheritance, next of kin, hospital and property rights (1999)
  • An equal age of consent in NSW (2003)
  • Parental status for co-mothers in NSW (2008)
  • Equal rights for same-sex couples and their children in federal entitlements (2008)
  • Relationships register (2010)
  • Adoption equality and surrogacy laws in NSW (2010).

Become a member of the Gay & Lesbian Rights Lobby and be part of the push for equality.

Members get regular updates about upcoming campaigns and events, are eligible to attend and vote at our Annual General Meeting and can nominate to sit on the Committee of Management.

Full membership is only $25 ($10 for concessions) and is essential in helping to fund our work. Gay and lesbian organisations can also become members for $50 and other organisations and businesses for $150.
