Community Forums

Each year, the GLRL holds a community forum to highlight and discuss important and/or current issues. In the past, the forums have been on coming out in public and being gay in sport.

Last year we held ‘Rhythms of our Rights’ at Gilligans in the Oxford Hotel.
Our speakers included our former convenors, Alex Sosnov (parenting) and Anthony Schembri (facilitator) and current convernor, Andrew Pickles ('missing pieces' legislation).

They were joined by David Mills, Sydney Star Observer (role of the media in reporting on gay and lesbian issues), Brad Gray, Anti-Violence Project (update on violence against our community) and Peter Maplestone, UNSW researcher (age of consent issues).
